Chris Coleman for Governor Campaign is looking to expand our field and political staff by hiring additional field and political organizers. Join a top tier, progressive, grassroots statewide DFL campaign to elect the next Governor of Minnesota. Specific responsibilities of the Field Organizer include but are not limited to following:

  • Building and expanding a volunteer base for Chris Coleman, by (1) recruiting, motivating, training and managing volunteers for canvassing, phonebanking, events, and data entry, and (2) Developing and training volunteer leaders to contribute to the Coleman Get-Out-To-Caucus program
  • Leading campaign Direct Voter Contact by organizing phone banks and delegate engagement activities to identify and activate supporters, meeting specific weekly and monthly personal and volunteer DVC goals
  • Recruiting, supervising and training campaign interns
  • Advancing and staffing Chris and campaign surrogates at DFL and community events
  • Preparing briefing and background materials for local event and targeted political outreach
  • Coordinating with local DFL and progressive organizations to ensure the Coleman campaign message is reaching targeted audiences
  • Developing delegate and voter outreach events, including house parties and meet & greets
  • Generating public awareness and support by engaging with new, grassroots, and social media
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in your assigned districts
  • Maintaining databases and ensuring efficient and accurate data entry
  • Supporting communication and fundraising campaign activities; and
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Commitment to progressive politics & passion to elect Chris Coleman Governor of the State of MN
  • Experience with political campaigns and/or related grassroots experience
  • Basic computer literacy on Windows-based computer programs in order to perform necessary campaign data management and administrative work; Knowledge of and experience with the Voter Activation Network (VAN) is encouraged
  • Willingness and ability to work long, irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel
  • Strong time-management skills and work ethic; Results-oriented, dependable, and proactive
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a wide spectrum of communities, cultures & backgrounds
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to frame issues and articulate organizational values and priorities;High energy, outgoing, and enthusiastic
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, proven leadership ability and experience handling a lot of responsibility
  • Ability to adapt quickly and accomplish goals as set forth by the campaign; Strong self-direction and the ability to take initiative
  • Working knowledge of local politics and relationships with community and DFL leaders is preferred
  • Having a valid drivers’ license, use of a car for work, and automobile insurance are mandatory conditions of employment in this role
